This paper attempts to identify key emerging technologies in support of interactive applications in mobile computing devices and socio-technical factors in their implementation. It puts forward future prospects for interaction through a review of existing literature with respect to a number of relevant emerging technologies emphasising their interaction applications and suitability. It may be of interest to note that the advancement of technology is leading to significant changes in mobile computing capability. This in turn, is challenging established notions of interaction design frameworks and the public perception of mobile interaction. Finally, several underlying factors affecting the implementation of such emerging technologies are detailed, these manifest themselves in the application of all emerging technologies in interaction roles.
In this paper, a mobile application to check the stability of rock slope has been developed. To assess the stability of slope, the Factor of Safety (FoS) was calculated by assuming plane wedge failure. Accordingly, the various input parameters comprised of shear strength parameter and unit weight of rock, geometrical parameters of slope and fault plane, surcharge on the slope, seismic acceleration coefficient corresponding to given location and stabilizing force due to inclusion of rock bolt, if any, were considered. The application was developed using Java programming and android studio. The proposed use of applications was demonstrated with the use of screenshots of different steps. Further, the application was validated with the help of an example from literature. The developed application was user-friendly and can conveniently handle any field situation. Hence it was anticipated that the application will be useful for the field engineers as it minimizes the tedious work of design and referring to tables and codes.
It is a new age where technology dominates human life. With the growth of smartphones and Web APIs, the number of mobile application development have increased in the past years. A large number of mobile applications make use of web APIs to integrate services into apps. In this paper, a mobile app is discussed for a planning, which will allow the users to plan and schedule their day trips by developing a web service API and accessing it through a mobile application. The proposed web API will integrate various third party APIs, such as Zomato, Ola for events, such as restaurant table, cab, and movie booking. Hence the proposed system will serve as an automated flexible planning system which will help the users to schedule their trips without any manual intervention or hassle.
It is always interesting to control the things around us. Moreover, controlling things like appliances located at remote places is really challenging. We need remote control technology, which has been rapidly growing to achieve these challenges. There are many communication systems to control remote appliances like Global System for Mobile (GSM), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and so on. Among them, the simplest technology to control is GSM. One more challenging issue is that to control AC appliances rather than to control simple Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) whose operating voltages are entirely different from AC appliances. The integration of Arduino and GSM along with relay, makes these challenges possible. In this paper, electrical appliances are controlled by sending SMS (Short Message Service) to GSM SIM900 module, which is integrated with Arduino and a relay is connected to it to handle high voltage devices. The number of devices to be controlled depends on the type of relay used. Presently, this paper presents successful controlling of four devices by using four channel relay.
We carry our mobile phones with us wherever we go – whether it is our lounge room or workspace – so is there any good reason why we shouldn't wander into the kitchen with it? Cooking applications are the another phase in the entire mobile app development, offering well ordered guidelines. The authors’ point is to give the client a rundown of dishes which can be cooked with the information provided and the span to cook, which the client wishes to cook. The client is given an advanced guide to the most proficient method to set up a dish they wish to cook, chosen from the number of dishes given. This application does not just give the client a clean direction on the most proficient method to make that a delicious dish, yet additionally demonstrates the client on how food specialists do it by observing the recordings appended alongside the well ordered guidelines of the dish. The applications will be introduced on the User's mobiles which runs Android OS. Apart from that, the application would enhance client verification and fast transmission of information.
