Organizations may encounter some crises in this era which can be out of control, as crises have become an important and influencing event in organizations, and it is a source of concern for leaders of organizations and officials alike because of the difficulty in taking control of them, due to sudden and sharp changes in the external environment. The biggest example of this is the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, which has caused a great suffering and economical loss for some countries. As we know, every organization has a section for human resources management, and the success of any organization is counted by the efficiency and quality of human resource management. Human resource management practices and the effectiveness of organizational crisis management are two areas of knowledge that were and still the focus of many studies, but the combination of them and the study of the relationship that binds them and the role that human resource management practices contribute to the effectiveness of crisis management is a new and important study. In this research paper, we have tried to explore the role of human resource management in organizations' crisis management activities. We have found out that there is a correlation and impact of human resource management practices in effectiveness of organizational crisis management facing organizations.
Heineken brewery has introduced malt barley contract farming scheme in the country's wheat-barley excellence zones since 2014. This study examines the impact of such contract farming on food security poverty and income of farmers in Tiyo woreda of Arsi zone. This study used 150 sample households and data were collected from primary sources through questionnaire, focus group discussion and key informants interview. The study employed propensity score matching to examine the impact of contract farming on income, poverty and food security. The results of the propensity score matching revealed that the project has a significant impact on the income of participating householders as the income received from malt barley and other crops has been significantly higher than that of the non-participants respectively. But, the project failed to impact their pre-harvesting season's food security of participants; as the increased income was not transformed into improved food consumption patterns. To preeminent project impact, the government and the sponsors in relation with other related stakeholders should further promote the scheme, provide quality and adequate inputs and timely credit services, devise mechanisms to incorporate the resource poor and distantly located households, incomes obtained to reach women, and provide after marketing monitoring, training and compulsory saving for the participant farmers.
Industrial unrest in an industry effect the productivity, loss of man-days, supply and demand of goods and services. Most of the conflict among the employer and workforce is payment of wages, payment of bonus, equal remuneration among the men and women, discharge of collective bargaining agreement, negotiation for incentives and productivity linked wage plans. Multistage sample technique with a sample of n=1008 that comprises of 2 large scales and 1 medium scale textile industrial units is where the study was carried out. Exploratory research was used to extract the factors and validate the instrument. Correlation, simple and multiple regression analysis were used to study the implementation of law on wages and its effects on perception of workforce on robust industrial relations. The study concludes that implementation of law on wages is significant and has positive effect on perception of workforce on robust industrial relations.
The present study aims at investigating the impact of lockdown and social isolation on the lifestyles of the people concerning their social, economic, educational life, and psychological aspects. The nature of the study was mixed as both qualitative and quantitative, data were collected through interviews, observation, awareness inventory, and information blanks. In the present study, Luhabaga village was taken as the sample purposively. A total number of 134 families/households were covered randomly and data was collected. Along with this, a sample of 120 students was also taken to gain an understanding of the impact of lockdown and social isolation from educational perspectives. The collected qualitative data was analyzed thematically and quantitative data was analyzed through percentage technique. The study revealed that due to the lockdown the people experienced stress, anxiety, and depression, still they appreciated this step for the benefit of the mass. The educational activities of the children were hampered as the problem of internet connectivity was found during online classes. So far as the awareness of people is concerned most people of the village were highly found to be aware of COVID-19 and they were taking essential measures to minimize the transmission.
Social media is playing an important role in everyone's life. It has created a short path for opportunities to come to people and political candidates. It allows users to not only seek information but also interact with others through online expression. This platform has really helped many people to make their career. Hence the aim of this paper is to evaluate the relationship between social media, politics and their campaigning. In addition, this paper totally represents the way politics is using social media to approach voters. Finally, how the social media is affecting the democracy of the country and how it is influencing the political campaigning is disussed.
