Abstract

This paper evaluates mobile banking services by investigating how mobile banking users dispose their Point of Sales (PoS) and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) receipts, if they change the password to their mobile banking platform or they do not change it. Questionnaire was used to collect Data from general public while, interview was used to collect data from bank staff. A total of 287 data were collected and analyzed using SPSS software for Statistical analysis. The results of the analysis were presented using Descriptive Statistical Analysis. The result of investigation showed that total of 84.6% respondents do not properly dispose their ATM receipts, total of 69.6% of them do not properly dispose their PoS receipts, 72.2% of them have almost been scammed or duped by providing their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and ATM details. It was also found that 48.3% of them use default passwords to their mobile banking platform, 61.2% do not change their passwords. Further investigations showed that total of 95.1% of the respondents thinks BVN should be kept secret, 91.6% of them are of the view that BVN should be treated the way passwords are treated and total of 77.7% of them thinks ATM card should be treated as passwords. The research also discover a strong relationship between those who disposed off their ATM and PoS receipt indiscriminately and chances of been duped.

Abstract

Advancement in mobile technology has made smart mobile devices to provide users with functionalities, which make these devices virtually indispensable in today's world. Mobile device users can now perform tasks that in past could only be performed on a personal computer. This is made possible by the variety of applications that run on these devices, from basic utility applications to social networking applications, health applications, and even mobile banking applications. Forensic analysis and security assessment of mobile banking applications in some countries have shown that sensitive user data such as login credentials and transactions details can be retrieved from the internal memory and cache of mobile devices. In this work, forensic acquisition and analysis of five mobile banking applications in Nigeria are performed, using the Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED) Touch and Forensic Recovery of Evidence Device (FRED). Analysis shows similar results with previous studies: the mobile banking applications did retain valuable user data, including user login credentials and transaction details. Security and privacy of user data need to be given higher priority by developers and proprietors of these applications.

Abstract

In a building construction project, it is the responsibility of the structural engineer to come up with a complete design of all structural elements. When this is done manually it is tasking, time consuming, and produces errors with inconsistent results. However, the design can be done using computer software, but this also comes with some downside; it is expensive and complex to use. Thus, this research developed an android based mobile application for the design of pad foundations to Eurocode 2 to put these challenges in check when designing pad footings. The mobile application designs isolated Axially loaded-only and Axially loaded with bending pad footing to Eurocode 2 accurately, with consistent results and in a timely manner. The application was tested using typical test parameters and results are compared to the manual computations. There was no significant difference in the steel sections provided for both methods. All checks that must be satisfactory in design were all checked and found to be satisfactory.

Abstract

The study was undertaken to determine customers' intension to change mobile communication networks regarding quality of information services provision in Zaria metropolis. The study raised three research questions and answers were sought to them, among which are the types of information services provided by mobile communication network to customers in Zaria metropolis, customers satisfaction level, and their intension to change network providers regarding information service quality. Survey research method was adopted for the study and data was collected from the sample of 1,269 out of the total population study of 1534. The data were analyzed descriptively using frequency tables, percentage, mean, and mode. The study revealed that customers in Zaria metropolis are provided with a wide range of information services. It was also revealed that customers are partially satisfied with the overall services of call, SMS, Internet, and SIM card service in the entire networks. It is recommended that attention should be directed toward services with lower satisfaction by setting a target using a set of benchmark of ACSI and N.C.C standard of communication services, to serve as a guide for mobile network industries and telecommunication industries to raise the satisfaction level so as to maintain the market share, maintain and generate their customers.

Abstract

The classification of soils in Geotechnical engineering is carried out in order to have a fairly accurate idea of its average properties. Various systems have been developed by researchers and are available in literature for classifying the soils. These systems were based on a set of properties, which can be determined experimentally. Different system uses different properties of the soil as the basis for the classification. Further, the classification systems in literature were available in the form of tables, graphs, or flow charts. Erroneous classification of the soil was sometimes made by the individual as one has to refer to many tables and graphs for the same. An Android based mobile app was developed in this paper to classify the soil and minimize the efforts required to refer to the tables and graphs. Further, some of the classification systems reported in literature require improvement and the same is also proposed in this paper. Finally, the results shown by different systems have been compared. The application is not only useful for teaching purpose in class, but also provides a useful utility to the consultants and the practicing engineers.

Abstract

Several wireless devices, such as cell phones, tablets, audio players, digital cameras are all found with Wi-Fi and have become the integral part of our daily life. World Research Forum (WRF) has been reported 7 trillion wireless devices serving 7 billion people in 2017-2022. There are about 7 billion people who have more than 5 million cell phones in the world. The radio frequency waves produced from the base station are given off into the environment, where people can be exposed to them. The radiation from excessive use of mobile phone devices affect the normal physiology of the human body and lead to serious health problems like; Cancer, Brain Tumor, Cognitive Function, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and so on. Regular use of short term effect of the wireless radiation causes hormone disruption, sleep disruption, behavior, attention problem and long term effects cause DNA damage, infertility, etc. This review paper summarizes that high power cell tower radiation has adverse effects on human health.
