Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) presents both unprecedented opportunities and significant challenges for sexual health, particularly concerning children and adolescents. This commentary explores the multifaceted implications of AI in this sensitive domain, examining its potential in sexual health education, prevention of sexual risks, and the provision of support, while also critically analyzing the ethical considerations, potential harms, and the crucial role of parents and educators. AI-powered tools, such as chatbots and personalized learning platforms, offer novel avenues for delivering accessible and destigmatized sexual health information. However, the same technologies also introduce risks related to privacy, data security, exposure to harmful content, and the erosion of human connection and critical thinking. This paper delves into these complex dynamics, emphasizing the need for careful consideration of developmental vulnerabilities, ethical guidelines, and robust safeguarding mechanisms to ensure that AI serves to protect and empower young people rather than expose them to new forms of harm in the realm of sexual health.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to provide nursing students with the tools to better respond to sexually assaulted survivors using trauma-informed care practices. Sexual assault continues to be a global public health crisis affecting both men and women, though disproportionately, it is experienced by more women. Many of these survivors seek medical and emotional care at crisis centers, clinics, and hospitals. However, little attention has been given towards educating medical and nursing students on how to appropriately and properly assess and care for these survivors in the clinical setting. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing, a body that regulates nursing education in the United States, through its new Essentials, has charged nursing educators to include training on person-centered care that includes compassionate, holistic, individualized, just, and respectful care. The research was analyzed using a mixed method study with a quasi-experimental framework. Students reported an increase in comfort in providing care for sexual assault survivors after completing trauma-informed care training. Nursing educators can continue to explore trauma-informed care training for students to better prepare them for providing care to sexual assault survivors.

Abstract

This study assessed mothers' knowledge and satisfaction with services provided under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritya Abhiyan (PMSMA) in a selected hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. A quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive research design was employed, utilizing a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected from a total of 300 mothers using a structured questionnaire. The analysis focused on sociodemographic factors, knowledge levels, and satisfaction with PMSMA services. Findings showed that a significant proportion of the participants between 26–30 years of age, were satisfied with the services provided under the PMSMA. Approximately 93.3% of the mothers reported average knowledge of PMSMA. There was a statistically significant difference between the age group and the source of information about the program (P < 0.05). However, no associations were found between mothers' satisfaction levels with PMSMA services and the selected sociodemographic variables. The study highlights that while mothers had satisfactory knowledge and positive experiences with PMSMA services, regular antenatal check-ups by medical officers or specialists are critical for reducing maternal deaths and high-risk pregnancies. Enhancing awareness and access to these services can further improve maternal and child health outcomes.

In response to this issue, interventions such as video-assisted teaching programs are being developed to enhance fishers' knowledge and attitudes toward occupational hazards. Video Assisted Teaching will improve the knowledge and attitude regarding occupational hazards and its prevention. The research design chosen for this study was quasi-experimental non- randomized control group design. Purposive sampling technique was used. The sample size comprised of 60 fishers out of which 30 was in the experimental group and 30 was in the control group. Demographic data, occupational data and Structured Knowledge Questionnaire for pre-test and post-test were administered in face to face method, after getting informed consent. Video assisted teaching programme regarding occupational hazards and its prevention was administered to the experimental group. The data were analyzed based on objective and hypotheses of the study The Video Assisted Teaching Programme was effective in increasing the knowledge score and change attitude. There was significant positive relationship between post-test knowledge score and post-test attitude score regarding occupational hazards and its prevention among fishers. There was significant association between pre-test level of knowledge and educational status, source of information and place of fishing. There was significant association between pre-test level of attitude and educational status, source of information and place of fishing. The study concluded that Video Assisted Teaching Programme is an effective intervention in increasing knowledge and changing attitude among fishers.

Aging is an important part of all human life. It is the last stage of human life, and they become weaker from a physical perspective as well as more sensitive and emotional from a psychological perspective. The aim of this reminiscence therapy is to improve the self-esteem and mental well-being of senior citizens. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of reminiscence therapy on self-esteem and mental well-being among senior citizens residing in selected convalescent homes in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The design used in this study is quasi-experimental with a pretest posttest control group design. The study is conducted in St. Joseph Old Age Home and Anbaham Old Age Home. The tools used were the Rosenberg self-esteem and the Warwick Edinburgh mental well-being scale. Findings revealed that among experimental group the pretest mean self-esteem score was 11.70, and the mental well-being score was 36.06. The post-test mean self-esteem score was 21.13, and the mental well-being score was 61.00. Hence it is statistically proved that reminiscence therapy is effective in improving self-esteem and mental well-being among senior citizens residing in selected convalescent homes.
