The ultra wideband (UWB) technology plays a major portrayal now a days. The ultra wideband (UWB) technology has encountered numerous significant advancements as of late. Then again, there are still more challenges in making this technology mainstream and open to its finest use. One specific challenge is the UWB antenna with notched bands. The late apportionment of the 3.1-10.6 GHz range by the Federal communications commission (FCC) in 2002 for Ultra Wide band applications, has displayed an appealing open doors and tackles for antenna designers in the field of wireless communications. As indicated by FCC definition, the technology which possesses greater than 500MHz of data transfer capacity, or greater than 25% of the operating centre frequency, is considered as ultra wideband. In this FCC allocation of frequency band for UWB applications, there are now a few narrow band communication systems existing, which might conceivably interfere with the UWB systems. Thus there is always necessity of design and advancement of UWB antenna with band-notched characteristic. This paper demonstrates recto-circular patch antenna with band notched characteristic which is suitable for ultra wideband (UWB) applications. The antenna with height of 1.5 mm and dielectric constant is used for design. Furthermore, fairly good radiation pattern, return loss and gain of antenna are presented, which shows that proposed antenna is well suited for distinctive UWB applications.
