PREPARATION OF CADASTRAL MAP USING GEO-SPATIAL TECHNIQUES: THE CASE STUDY OF ARBAMINCH TOWN SUB-LEMAT KEBELE

Abstract

Cadastral surveyors are a surveyors responsible for making land management easy and successful in the management of the parcel in a land. In this responsibility cadastral map making is the main and most useful task. The traditional way of making cadastral map is the most adopted one but the digital map making using geospatial technique is the newer and the estimated technique which will take over the traditional one in the future. So in this project we have prepared cadastral map of sub-lemat kebele in Arba Minch town with geospatial technique by using ArcGIS software package as analyzing software. In addition to the map socio-economic data of the kebele is integrated to it. The data required for the map preparation or attribute data was got from the Arba Minch town municipality. An image to be digitized was gathered to the attribute data by using MS excel and arc map software’s. The socio economic data is collected from the field by randomly selected blocks in the kebele. This data is used to prepare a cadastral map which include the socioeconomic data like population size by sex, age, and level of education to make the work complete we have also collected survey data from the field by using hand held GPS and Total station, and then the data is imported to the ArcGIS to be interpreted to the socio economic and attribute data. After all the data was collected to arc maps and arc catalog software is used to analyze and to prepare the cadastral map with socioeconomic and field collected survey data are included. The cadastral map was prepared by including each parcel id and all required map elements.
