Construction material management is a major issue in the construction industry across the world, particularly in emerging economies like Ethiopia. Hence, without appropriate material management, construction projects face a huge problem. This study was to assess the application of materials management techniques and its impact on construction project delivery success in the Hadiya zone of Ethiopia. Both descriptive and correlational research designs were employed in this study, with both qualitative and quantitative techniques possible. Based on the responsibility of managing construction materials, contracting companies’ project managers, material managers and site engineers in Hadiya Zone are the study's target group. Interview guides and questionnaires were data collection tools used. Using empirical data obtained from administration of questionnaires to 204 respondents of contracting companies; the data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics like factor analysis and the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient with aid of statistical software named SPSS version 25. The study was identified from 25 factors seven(7) significant factors or variables such as planning and monitoring of material schedule; establishing good business relations with suppliers; the use of security measures on site; use of information communication technology; application of material wastage control; attention to weather conditions and also use of competent workers as well as effective training of workers is significant for effective material management on construction site, and has direct effect on construction project delivery success. The study further reveal that the surveyed companies often employ store keepers; and security personnel on site; However, they seldom utilize pre-fabrication and pre-assembly of materials ; Provide material card at site store and attention to weather conditions moreover, rarely use ICT and offer training for their workers. Moreover, majority of middle and small firms were not utilizing material management techniques in the study area. To aid construction material management, this study has developed pertinent frame work for effective material management. Thus, construction firms are recommended to improve their construction material management practices and solve their material management problems by applying correct material management techniques and the developed frame work.
