Agriculture in India, the prominent sector of the economy, is the source of livelihood of almost two thirds of the workforce in the country. The contribution of agriculture and allied activities to India's economic growth in recent years has been no less significant than that of industry and services. The importance of agriculture to the country is best summed up by this statement: "If agriculture survives, India survives". It is the most important sector in terms of providing employment and reducing poverty. This article examined the determinants of motivational factors towards the agriculture of rubber with special reference to Kanyakumari district, the southern district of Tamil Nadu. A focused Interview Schedule has been prepared and was administered among 250 sample respondents who directly involved in rubber cultivation.
