மனிதனை தலைச்சிறந்தவனாக மாற்றுவது இலக்கியங்கள். பழந்தமிழர்கள் மக்கள் அறநெறியோடு வாழ்வதற்காகவே இலக்கியங்களைப் படைத்துள்ளனர். தமிழ் மொழியில் அமைந்துள்ள இலக்கியங்கள் மனித குலத்தை இன்புறுத்தி அதன் வழியே அற ஒழுக்கத்தை உணர்த்தும் வலிமை உடையதாக விளக்குகிறது. மக்கள் ஆற்றிவு உடையவர்கள். இலக்கியங்கள் மனித வாழ்க்கையை இன்ன முறையில் தான் வாழ வேண்டும் என்ற முறையினை உணர்த்துகின்றன.

Literature is what makes a man great. Ancient Tamils created literature for people to live morally. Literature in the Tamil language is described as having the power to inspire humanity and thereby inculcate morality. People are energetic. Literature shows how human life should be lived.
