Abstract

The primary objective of this paper is to examine the role of women entrepreneurs in small-scale industries. This study focuses on the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India. In this study, both secondary and primary data were used. The findings reveal that women entrepreneurs in Kanyakumari district are primarily in the age group of 36 to 45 years and 46 to 55 years, with a significant proportion having attained graduate or postgraduate education. Their annual earnings in small-scale industries range from Rs. 2, 00,001 to 4, 00,000, signifying their economic significance. The study also highlights that women entrepreneurs in the region often establish their smallscale industries in rural areas, emphasizing the role of entrepreneurship in promoting rural development. The most prevalent industries among women entrepreneurs include textiles, food processing, and agro-based industries. . In this study, snowball sampling technique has been used by the researcher. In this study, the researcher has selected 125 women entrepreneurs from small scale industries in Kanyakumari district. The small-scale industries located in Kanyakumari District have a very good future prospect. The factors which create a good future of the industry are the size of market, the nature and pattern of demand, customers' attitude and behaviour, economic conditions of individual customer, cost of manufacturing and marketing etc.
