Prospects of Future Tourism in Bangladesh: An Evaluative Study

Since 1971, Bangladesh has developed a unique and attractive tourism market that has expanded its industry due to its natural beauty. After declaring tourism year 2016 by the government of Bangladesh, tourism became one of the most promising sectors with its vast natural beauty, heroic historical background and archaeological resources. The paper tries to provide updated information about the tourist destination that emphasizes the current position of the tourism industry and, its contribution to the economic development of Bangladesh. In 2019, about 323000 tourists visited Bangladesh and admired its beauty. Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Biman, Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh are the main statutory body with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. It may conclude because of the limitation of availability of data that Bangladesh has failed to present itself as a tourist destination. The paper wants to explore the outstanding tourist destinations and the participation of tourism in the economy in Bangladesh. The main apprehension of the researchers is to point out the factors through which Bangladesh has the opportunity to become one of the best tourist destinations in the world shortly. The study also provides some recommendations for the development of the tourism industry in Bangladesh.
