Abstract

The Indian energy market is dominated by fossil fuels, with sixty percent of India's energy reliant on coal. Due to the declining cost of renewable energy technology, solar energy production has rapidly increased in India in recent years. The development of the country is directly dependent on energy production, and there is an urgent need to create reliable alternative energy sources as the natural coal reserve continues to deplete. India has become the third largest electricity producing nation in the world. Due to solar power generation, India has been able to eliminate its energy shortage with comparison to other countries. This paper focuses on the present scenario of solar power in India with comparison to other countries. This paper will discuss about the solar energy production, potential, future, hindrances, achievements, availability, research and development of solar power in India.
