This paper summarizes the recent progress on the study of nano-fluids such as the preparation methods with focus on two-step and one-step methods. The stability of nano-fluids and the techniques to enhance stability have also been discussed. The applications of nano fluids ranging over a wide spectrum from electronics, mechanical to industrial and environmental have been discussed in detail. Special emphasis has been given to the energy application to Nanofluids. The paper concludes by identifying the various opportunities for further research, study and development of nano-science and nano-technology to benefit the human civilization and universe.
