Abstract

A new approach for reconfiguring the dual-mode bandpass filter based on multilayer structure is presented in this paper. The primary objective of the proposed work is to reconfigure the dual-mode bandpass filter by tuning both degenerative odd and even mode resonant frequencies. A slow wave resonator with a feed on top layer and a rectangular perturbation patch on second layer are incorporated to design the dual–mode bandpass filter. Two degenerative modes, odd and even modes are excited with cross talk region of the filter. A simple lumped element circuit model for cross talk region is proposed in this work. Both odd and even mode resonant frequencies are tuned by changing the characteristic impedance of both resonator and patch through periodic vias in crosstalk region. The proposed approach for reconfiguring the dual-mode filter is completely different from conventional approach, where only even mode frequency was tuned while keeping odd mode frequency fixed.
