Most of the newborn deaths are due to hypothermia and about 42 percent, 3.6 million develop moderate to severe hypothermia. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a special way of caring of new born infants to foster their health and well being by promoting effective thermal control, breastfeeding, infection prevention and bonding. Multipurpose health workers (MPHWs) have a significant role in care of mother and child during prenatal, perinatal and postnatal period.
