Obesity is now considered a disease of epidemic proportions with increasing prevalence worldwide. The World Health Organization (2006) defines obesity as a ‘global epidemic’ existing in both developed and developing countries. The incidence of overweight and obesity are continually rising among females who are between the age group of 11-16 years. Behavior modification programs, positive reinforcement, counseling sessions for enhancing physical activity and balanced nutrition is recommended.
