Robertson Journal on Management 2230 – 715X 9 4 1 17 Foreign Direct Investment, BRIC, Brazil, Florida, Emerging Economies, Multinational Companies This paper describes the current levels of economic growth in the Brazilian economy, one of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, and China), presenting a historic overview of the country's economic growth in the past years, as well as the evolution of some macroeconomic indicators. Brazil's participation in international organization forums, such as the IMF and WTO, are included in this paper. The country's inflow and outflow Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in recent years are also discussed and examples are given to illustrate the current trend of investments in different markets, with an emphasis on the USA and the State of Florida, in particular.
